We are a bipartisan group of Virginia Senators and Delegates looking for common ground on important issues.

  • Early Voting Push

After the passage of historic early voting legislation, members of the Commonwealth Caucus came together to encourage Virginians to use their newfound voting capabilities!

  • Affirming Election Results

In preparation for the contentious 2020 elections, the Commonwealth Caucus released the following statement with a corresponding video:

“As Members of the bipartisan Commonwealth Caucus, we are committed to putting partisanship aside and protecting our democracy and institutions. Now more than ever, we will need to come together after this contentious election to address this pandemic and the resulting economic and health crises. After the votes are all counted, we ask that all Virginians and all Americans unite in support of our nation by accepting the outcome of the election. We support the right of every Virginian to peacefully protest, but we call on all to reject violence. We as a Caucus plan to work across the aisle regardless of who wins the election and continue to serve as an example for unity and bipartisanship.”

  • Push for Redistricting Reform

As Virginia debated redistricting reform, the Commonwealth Caucus stood solidly behind reforms with an article in the Washington Post:

“We all believe that our current political climate is at odds with the wishes of most Virginians — and most Americans — who themselves don’t believe that any party or individual has a monopoly on good ideas. It would seem odd that the political climate of our commonwealth would fail to reflect the will of our citizens. That is until one realizes that politicians themselves have been gerrymandering political districts focused far more on reelection than providing a voice to all Virginians.”
